Job Title: Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis Advisor

The Role
Are you a strategic finance leader with deep higher education experience?
We’re seeking someone with experience developing long range projections, analyzing metrics and benchmarks, providing insights, and leading collaborative discussions with leadership teams resulting in change across all functional areas.
Leveraging an automation tool, we help guide clients through a benchmarking process to identify opportunities for revenue enhancements, expense restructuring and other operational efficiencies. We’re looking for someone with the following skills, knowledge and abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role – financial consulting, advisory, or a similar role in higher education
- Strong experience in higher education with the ability to engage across the campus leadership team and create meaningful conversations
- Comfort and willingness to work directly with clients as their engagement lead
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey complex financial information to clients and internal stakeholders
- Ability to manage client engagements, from scoping to execution and renewal, with minimal oversight
- Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, with keen attention to detail. Experience with financial modeling and scenario development to drive decision making
- Rock solid alignment with our company culture and values
- Strong excel skills for reporting, analysis and visuals; experience using automation tools preferred
- Ability to convert complex information into a story the audience can understand through visual and verbal communication
- Consultant mindset (problem solver, good listener)
This role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to client sites and conferences. You will have flexibility with your schedule.
Job Responsibilities:
You will act as a strategic financial planning & analysis advisor assigned to a list of clients with different needs and challenges. Some of the activities you will perform include:
- Client Advisory: Provide exceptional financial guidance and consulting services to a diverse array of colleges and universities.
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analyses, including benchmarking, forecasting, and budgeting, to support clients in making informed strategic decisions. Provide insights and lead discussions resulting in change/progress across all functional areas.
- Development of long-range projections (mostly using excel).
- Finance enablement assessments: leverage your knowledge and experience to assess the operations of a client based on the challenges they are trying to solve and develop a roadmap to help them reach their goals.
- Support implementation of Automation and reporting tools
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and reporting sessions, understanding their business needs, and delivering timely and effective solutions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with FEF’s leadership team to contribute to the overall growth strategy and ensure alignment with the company’s mission and values.
